The problem

We don't have a framework for what good mental health looks like, and it's costing us.

A workforce is human first. Yet mental health only gets attention once it's gone wrong, and that reactive approach costs UK employers £51 billion a year. That cost shows up in your strongest people burning out, checking out, or handing in their notice. It shows up as sickness absence, missed deadlines, and missed opportunities; in the managers who want to help someone struggling but have no idea how. Most organisations only act once someone's already signed off, or something's already gone wrong, and by then it's expensive: not only for the individual, but for the company, in money, in talent, and in culture.

Stress, anxiety and burnout are among the biggest barriers to performance and retention, and in high-pressure industries they're close to the norm. They're also among the most preventable, when people have the right tools before the pressure peaks.

The cost, in numbers.

And why prevention pays.

£51bn

the cost of poor mental health to UK employers each year. The biggest share is presenteeism, people at work but underperforming (~£24bn), then staff turnover (~£20bn).

22.1m

working days lost to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in a single year: 62% of all days lost to work-related ill health.

£4.70

back for every £1 invested in employee mental health, with prevention, education and culture giving the strongest return.

The better way

Give your team the tools before they need them.

We know how to look after our bodies to stay well: how we eat, move and rest to prevent illness. Our minds deserve the same. The Valent Collective brings clinical psychology out of the therapy room and into the working day: practical, science-backed training that helps your team understand how their minds work and perform at their best. No diagnoses, no jargon, no waiting for a crisis. Strong team, strong performance, from the start.

Why The Valent Collective

Clinical depth, in plain English.

There's a lot of wellbeing advice out there, and much of it comes from people with no clinical training. Plenty of it is well meant. But when someone is genuinely struggling, advice without clinical grounding can do more harm than good, and too much of the good stuff stays locked in language no one outside the field can follow. Behind The Valent Collective is Dr Leanne Harper: a clinical psychologist with a doctorate and published research, who has spent over a decade in NHS crisis care supporting people in acute distress and the staff who care for them. She turns real clinical expertise into a warm, practical hour your team will actually enjoy, and remember.

What we do

Training that treats your team like humans, not job titles.

Four foundational sessions, each built around pressure points that cost your team the most. Each training is built on real clinical work and peer-reviewed science, then stripped of the jargon so it lands on a human level. No diagnoses. No referral criteria. No locked doors.
